Cadillac Returns as Title Sponsor for 2026 PGA Tour Event at Trump National Doral

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Cadillac has officially returned as the title sponsor for a prominent PGA Tour event at Trump National Doral, scheduled for the first weekend of May 2026. This event will be one of the marquee tournaments, boasting a substantial purse of $20 million.

A Legacy Venue

The Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral, famously known as the "Blue Monster," has a rich history in professional golf. Doral has been a part of the PGA Tour since 1962, hosting annual events until 2016, when it transitioned into a World Golf Championship under various names.

Brian Rolapp, CEO of the PGA Tour, emphasized the importance of Doral within the Tour’s lineup, stating, “We appreciate the support of Cadillac as we bring a new era of the PGA Tour to our fans in Miami.” This sentiment highlights the significance of returning to a venue that has become a staple of professional golf.

Historical Significance of Doral

Doral stands out as one of only eight courses that have hosted a regular PGA Tour event for over 50 years. The prestigious list includes:

  • Riviera Country Club (California)
  • Pebble Beach (California)
  • Torrey Pines (California)
  • Colonial Country Club (Texas)
  • Waialae Country Club (Hawaii)
  • Harbour Town Golf Links (South Carolina)
  • Muirfield Village Golf Club (Ohio)

Previously, Cadillac served as the title sponsor for the World Golf Championship event at Trump National Doral from 2011 to 2016. However, the automaker decided not to renew its sponsorship, which coincided with the rise of President Donald Trump as a significant figure in the Republican Party. Consequently, the WGC event moved to Mexico City when a new sponsor could not be secured.

Recent Developments

Trump National Doral made its return to professional golf in 2022, hosting a LIV Golf event each year for the past four years. Now, with the PGA Tour’s announcement, the course will again take its place on the Tour schedule, designated as a signature event before Cadillac’s sponsorship agreement was finalized.

This partnership is poised to rekindle the excitement surrounding professional golf in Miami, paving the way for innovative experiences for fans and players alike.

As we approach 2026, golf enthusiasts can look forward to a historic championship at one of the sport’s most iconic venues.
