The tragic death of 68-year-old Bob Dunn at The Mook at Alderbrook golf course in Oregon has left the golfing community in deep mourning. Dunn, a beloved member of the golf community, was killed when a tree unexpectedly collapsed during his round of golf, pinning him to the ground. His sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Bob Dunn, who split his time between Tillamook, Oregon, and his home in Nicaragua, was known for his love of golf and his habit of walking the course. His presence on the golf course brought joy and camaraderie to all those around him. His playing partner, Hugh Ragle, expressed shock at the suddenness of the tree’s collapse, stating that there were no indications that the tree was a danger.

Dunn was well-liked by fellow golfers and friends, who described him as a dedicated and passionate golfer. After retiring from NW Natural Gas Company, Dunn had moved to Nicaragua, where he spent several months each year. In the rest of the year, he lived in Tillamook. Dunn had been looking forward to his return to Nicaragua, but had scheduled a few more rounds of golf with his friends before leaving.

Patrick Zweifel, a co-owner of The Mook, stated that maintenance crews had removed many dangerous trees from the course when he purchased it two years ago. The alder tree that claimed Dunn’s life did not show any signs of being a problem at the time, leading Zweifel to plan a reassessment of the trees on the course. The Mook at Alderbrook, built in 1925, is known as one of the best public-access and private golf courses in Oregon.

The managing partners of The Mook at Alderbrook released a statement on Facebook, expressing their deep sadness at Dunn’s passing. The statement described Dunn as a dedicated member of the golf community and a beloved friend to many. His loss will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Fellow golfers and friends have expressed their condolences and shared memories of Dunn’s love for the game and his warm personality.
