Dom Pedro Golf Vilamoura is making significant upgrades to its Old Course to solidify its position as one of the top golf courses in Europe. The second oldest course in the Algarve has been undergoing extensive renovations, including the construction of a new clubhouse set to open in November. The renovations aim to provide a classic and elegant look while enhancing the overall experience of the course.

The new clubhouse will feature improvements to the entrance, golf shop, living room, restaurant, bar, and terrace area. The Old Course will be transformed into a premium gated club offering personalized service, VIP concierge, and world-class playing conditions. Additionally, on-course improvements have been made to one of the Algarve’s most famous layouts, enhancing the overall golfing experience for visitors.

The renovations also focus on sustainability, with initiatives such as new sprinkler systems, water-resistant grass varieties, hydropressor stations, and 100% electric machinery being introduced to reduce water and energy consumption. Despite the extensive renovations, the course has remained open to minimize the impact on visiting golfers, with all developments set to be completed by the end of August.

Nuno Sepúlveda, co-CEO of DETAILS, the management platform overseeing Vilamoura’s golfing assets, highlighted the long-term vision of enhancing quality, sophistication, and guest experience. The renovations aim to maintain high standards in golfing facilities and service while reinforcing Vilamoura’s reputation as a premier golf destination.

The course will see improvements to greens, fairways, bunkers, and tee boxes, with careful maintenance, new sand, lips, slopes, and Bermuda grass being planted. The overall appearance of the course will be enhanced with more defined play areas and iconic pine trees. Off the course, upgrades will be made to the driving range, incorporating modern technology for various training sessions catering to all golfers.

The renovations are designed to respect the course’s classic design and heritage while introducing enhancements that improve the overall golfing experience. The balance between preserving tradition and introducing modern improvements ensures that the Old Course remains a beloved destination for golfers.
