Cam Davis emerged victorious at the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, MI with a score of -18, marking his second career PGA Tour win. This win comes after his earlier victory in the same tournament in 2021. Despite struggling earlier in the season, Davis mentioned in a post-round interview that he had recently started working with a hypnotherapist and found his form in the past two weeks. Davis’ win was partly due to Akshay Bhatia’s misfortune, as Bhatia three-putted the final green from 32 feet to miss out on forcing a playoff, ultimately finishing in a T2 position.

Bhatia’s heartbreaking finish allowed Aaron Rai, Davis Thompson, and Min Woo Lee to also secure a T2 finish alongside him. Thompson and Lee are young players showing promise in their careers, while Rai is a consistent performer who excels in certain setups. The tournament provided fans with a glimpse of the future stars of golf, with players like Rico Hoey, Eric Cole, Erik Van Rooyen, and Cameron Young finishing T6, just two strokes behind the T2 group. Notably, Young remains one of the top players without a PGA Tour win.

The event also saw notable finishes from Nick Dunlap and Luke Clanton, both amateur players who secured a T10 position with a score of -14. The defending champion Rickie Fowler finished in a respectable T31 position with a score of -9. However, young amateurs like Miles Russell and Tom Kim failed to make the cut, while Will Zalatoris withdrew during the third round due to precautionary measures after feeling discomfort in his hip. Next, the PGA Tour moves to Silvis, IL for the John Deere Classic, featuring top golfers such as Patrick Cantlay, Jason Day, Sungjae Im, and Jordan Spieth.

For golf enthusiasts interested in Cam Davis’ equipment, he used a Titleist TSR3 driver, a Titleist TSR3 3 wood, Titleist T100 and 620 CB irons, Titleist Vokey Design SM10 and Vokey WedgeWorks wedges, and a Scotty Cameron putter during his winning performance at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Additionally, Dylan Thaemert, a clinical mental health therapist and avid golfer, provided insights and analysis on the tournament and players in his latest posts on Plugged In Golf. Fans can look forward to more exciting golf action in the upcoming events on the PGA Tour.
