Brian Harman emerged victorious at the 2025 Valero Texas Open in San Antonio, TX, with a final score of -9, defeating Ryan Gerard by three strokes. This win marked his first victory since the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. Despite challenging final round conditions, Harman was able to maintain his lead after starting the day three strokes ahead of Andrew Novak and four ahead of Tom Hoge. Harman’s ability to navigate the tough conditions and keep the ball in play was reminiscent of his performance at Hoylake.

Throughout the day, it appeared that the competition would come down to a battle between Harman and Novak. However, Novak’s late struggles, including four bogeys in his final six holes, saw him drop to T3 at -6. In contrast, Gerard produced a solid round, shooting -3 to climb up the leaderboard. Maverick McNealy also joined Novak in third place after consistent play throughout the week. A group of players finished T5 at -4, including Bud Cauley, Chan Kim, Patrick Fishburn, Thorbjorn Olesen, Tom Hoge, Ryo Hisatsune, and Chad Ramey.

Apart from the top finishers, other notable performances included Jordan Spieth at T12 with a score of -3, Corey Conners at T18 with -2, and amateur Ben James at T33 with +1. However, some top names in the field, such as Ludvig Aberg, Akshay Bhatia, Hideki Matsuyama, Tom Kim, and Sam Burns, failed to make the cut for the tournament. The focus now shifts to Augusta, Georgia, and Augusta National Golf Club for the Masters, where defending champion Scottie Scheffler will compete against the best players in the world.

Harman’s success at the Valero Texas Open was attributed to his skillful use of equipment, including his Titleist TSi2 driver, Titleist TS2 3 Wood, and Titleist TS2 5 Wood. His iron set consisted of Titleist U-500 for 4-5, Titleist T100 for 6, and Titleist 620 CB for 7-P, paired with Titleist Vokey Design SM9 wedges. Additionally, Harman utilized a TaylorMade Spider 5K-ZT putter to navigate the challenging greens. His precise driving accuracy in combination with a new zero torque putter played a crucial role in securing his victory.

As the golf world anticipates the upcoming Masters tournament, featuring a highly competitive field at Augusta National Golf Club, fans can expect an exciting showdown between top players. It will be a rare opportunity to witness all the best golfers in the world competing in the same event. Following his recent triumph at the Valero Texas Open, Harman will look to carry his momentum into the Masters and showcase his skills against the elite competition. With a strong lineup of contenders, including the defending champion Scheffler, the Masters promises to deliver thrilling moments and fierce competition on the iconic Augusta course.
