The Solheim Cup, a prestigious biennial golf tournament between Team Europe and Team USA, is currently taking place at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. This year, instead of team rooms, the two sides are staying in sprawling cottages next to the driving range. Controversy arose when Team Europe’s accommodations were deemed smaller than those of Team USA, leading to some tensions between the two teams.

Sky Sports’ Jamie Weir reported that Team USA took issue with Team Europe using some of the hitting bays in their cottage, violating the event’s contract rules. Additionally, tables and chairs were placed outside Team Europe’s cottage on the driving range, which is also not allowed. Despite the controversy, Team USA player Stacy Lewis downplayed the issue, referring to the situation as awkward due to the proximity of the two houses. However, she emphasized that there is no animosity, just a need for some space for both teams.

In response to the allegations, Team USA has moved to the far end of the range to create more separation. Swedish player Anna Nordqvist expressed satisfaction with their location on the range, highlighting that as visitors on U.S. soil, Team USA had the first choice of team room. U.S. assistant captain Angela Stanford dismissed the issue as a non-story, viewing it as a minor distraction that would not affect their performance. She noted that such controversies often arise in competitive events as teams look for ways to unify and motivate themselves.
