Jacksonville Beach golfer Miles Russell has had an impressive season in 2024, making history as the youngest player on the Korn Ferry Tour to make the cut at just 15 years old. However, his final professional event of the season at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship did not go as planned. Despite shooting a 73 in the first round, Russell missed the projected cut by seven shots after shooting a 74 in the second round. His struggles at the tournament were attributed to his short game, as he had trouble getting up and down for par after missing 13 greens.

With only one more PGA Tour event remaining in the 2024 season, the RSM Classic at the Sea Island Club, Russell’s future in professional events is uncertain. Russell did not receive a sponsor invitation to the tournament, and as of November 15th, he was not entered in a qualifier for the event. The Korn Ferry Tour, where Russell played twice this season, has also come to an end, leaving Russell with limited opportunities to compete at the professional level for the remainder of the year.

Despite missing the cut at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, Russell had an impressive record in pro events in 2024. He shot under par seven times in 11 rounds and was in the 60s five times. His scoring average for the season was 69.64, and he was a cumulative 18-under par. Russell’s standout performances this season, including his top-20 finish at the LECOM Suncoast Championship, have garnered attention for the young golfer and have solidified his potential as a rising star in the world of golf.

Throughout the season, Russell faced a variety of challenges and opportunities on both the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour. From narrowly missing the cut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic to making history at the LECOM Suncoast Championship, Russell’s journey has been marked by both successes and setbacks. His ability to consistently shoot under par and compete at a high level against more experienced players has raised expectations for his future in professional golf.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Russell will likely continue to pursue his dream of competing at the highest level of professional golf. With his natural talent, dedication to the game, and competitive spirit, Russell has the potential to make a significant impact on the sport in the years to come. As he continues to hone his skills and gain valuable experience on the tour, Russell will undoubtedly be a player to watch in the world of golf, with fans and fellow competitors alike eager to see what the future holds for this young prodigy from Jacksonville Beach.
