Westerham Golf Club, located on the Kent/Surrey borders, is making significant investments in its 18-hole, par-72 golf course to enhance the overall quality of the playing experience at the popular club. The club’s ongoing woodland management programme has entered its fourth year, resulting in the opening up of stunning new views and improvements in the playability of various holes on the course. The latest works have focused on the 12th and 15th holes, where an area of pine trees between the two holes has been cleared to create better light and airflow on the fairways, ultimately improving the playing surfaces.
In addition to the woodland management programme, the club is also taking steps to remove bunkers that are largely out of play. Bunkers to the left of the 15th fairway have been re-contoured into a grass swale, while those on the 9th hole are also being removed. Further work will be conducted throughout the winter to remove, refurbish, and add additional bunkers on the course, weather permitting.
Away from the golf course, Westerham Golf Club is also focusing on improving its clubhouse facilities. The main bar is set to undergo a makeover in January, with the installation of large bifold doors opening up the space to the patio area and offering a stunning view across the course. The bar will be rebuilt to accommodate an additional till, ensuring faster service during peak times. A new large TV will be installed for showcasing top sporting events, while the club’s Gamebook golf day scoring service will be displayed in another area within the clubhouse.
Work is also scheduled to commence on the driving range to expand the number of bays and flatten the main landing area. Additionally, TopTracer ball tracking technology will be installed in all bays to enhance the practice experience for golfers. Looking ahead to the new year, further improvements are planned for the car park and driveway, including the unveiling of more pine trees, resurfacing work, and the installation of electric car charging points.
The investment in Westerham Golf Club’s facilities demonstrates the club’s commitment to enhancing the overall experience for members and visitors alike. The improvements in the course’s playing surfaces, clubhouse facilities, and driving range amenities are designed to meet the evolving needs of golfers and provide a top-quality experience for all who visit the club.
Members of Westerham Golf Club can look forward to enjoying a refreshed and upgraded clubhouse environment, complete with a more spacious and modern bar area, enhanced viewing amenities for sporting events, and improved access to the patio area with the installation of large bifold doors. The club’s investment in technology, such as TopTracer ball tracking, will also enhance the practice experience for golfers on the driving range, making it easier to track and improve their shots.
As Westerham Golf Club continues to invest in its facilities, members and visitors can expect to see ongoing improvements in the course conditions, clubhouse amenities, and overall experience at the club. By prioritizing enhancements such as woodland management, bunker removal, and technology integration, the club is positioning itself as a premier destination for golf enthusiasts in the Kent and Surrey regions. Whether visitors come for a round of golf, practice session on the driving range, or to enjoy the clubhouse facilities, Westerham Golf Club is dedicated to providing a top-quality experience for all.
