The U.S. Open is known for its brutal conditions that separate the contenders from the pretenders. With only around 40 players having a realistic chance of winning out of the 156 in the field, the competition is fierce. Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka stand out as favorites for the 2024 U.S. Open. Scheffler’s dominance on the course has everyone talking, and another win this week could solidify his status as a golf superstar. Koepka, a multiple-time U.S. Open winner, has a calculated approach to the tournament, knowing that only a handful of players are likely to compete for the title.

Xander Schauffele is another player to watch at the U.S. Open. After a recent win at the PGA Championship, Schauffele is exuding confidence and swagger on the course. His change in demeanor and performance on the course have observers wondering if he is on the brink of a breakthrough at a major championship. Rory McIlroy, a four-time major winner, has been keeping a low profile at Pinehurst, focusing on his game while dealing with personal issues off the course.

Tiger Woods, despite recent struggles, cannot be counted out at the U.S. Open. Woods has been working on his game and appears to be in good form leading up to the tournament. Bryson DeChambeau, the 2020 U.S. Open champion, has shown a different side of himself after his father’s passing, emphasizing personal growth and perspective. Max Homa, known for his short game prowess, could excel at Pinehurst’s challenging greens, where precise wedge shots will be crucial.

Brooks Koepka, another multiple-time U.S. Open winner, is fine-tuning his game ahead of the tournament. Viktor Hovland, who has shown flashes of brilliance but is still seeking a breakthrough win, will be looking to find his swing feel during the competition. Collin Morikawa, a consistent performer on the tour, has the potential to make a significant impact at the U.S. Open. Finally, Ludvig Aberg, known for his high-ball striking ability, could be a strong contender if the course conditions harden up over the weekend. Despite facing setbacks, Aberg’s mature outlook on the game could serve him well in a pressure-filled competition like the U.S. Open.
