After finishing 48th in the 2024 LIV Golf League season, Pat Perez has announced that he will not be playing in 2025. Instead, he will be taking up a role as an on-course analyst for the upcoming season. This move comes as LIV Golf secures a multi-year TV deal with FOX Sports and signs YouTube star Rick Shiels as a brand ambassador and golf content creator. Perez expressed his excitement about the new opportunity, stating that it is a perfect mid-life restart for him.
Perez, who has experience in broadcasting from co-hosting the Sirius XM talk show ‘Out of Bounds’ and working as part of the commentary team during The Match: Tiger vs Phil, will be providing pre and post-round coverage as an on-course reporter. His best finish in the 2024 season came at LIV Golf Nashville, where he finished in a share of 14th place. Prior to joining the broadcast team, Perez played under the 4Aces GC banner, captained by friend Dustin Johnson.
Joining the LIV Golf League in 2022, Perez was part of the successful 4Aces GC team and finished 28th in the individual standings for 2023. However, he struggled in the 2024 season and just managed to keep his playing rights by a slim margin of 1.56 points. After the 4Aces GC signed Thomas Pieters, Perez was left without a team, leading to his decision to pursue broadcasting full time for the League in 2025.
Overall, Perez’s transition from player to on-course analyst represents a new chapter in his career. With the growth of LIV Golf and the partnership with FOX Sports, his role as a commentator will provide fans with insightful coverage of the upcoming season.
