Mylee Michel Shines at Souris Valley Golf Course, Qualifies for State Tournament

MINOT, ND — After a remarkable performance at the Souris Valley Golf Course, Mylee Michel is poised to represent Jamestown High School at the upcoming 2025 Class A State Golf Tournament in Fargo at the month’s end. The senior golfer shot an impressive score of 82, securing an eighth-place finish, which is her best score this season.

Pressure and Performance in Golf

This qualifying event was a crucial individual qualifier, which added a layer of pressure for the participating athletes. "This meet was an individual qualifier," said Jamestown High School head golf coach Katie Hemmer. "This puts a lot of extra pressure on the girls. Some handle that better than others, and learning to compete under pressure is one of the great lessons we learn from golf." Clearly, Mylee embraced the challenge, demonstrating her skill and composure on the course.

Three of the Jays’ other top-six players—Belle Sjostrom, Braelyn Wiese, and Taylor Earnest—finished in a tie for 28th place, each scoring 93. Katelyn Monson, the No. 4 seed for the team, carded a 99, while Autumn Roberts celebrated a personal best with a score of 108. The camaraderie and supportive environment among the players were apparent despite the mixed individual results.

Outlook for the Season Ahead

Looking ahead, Coach Hemmer expressed optimism regarding her team’s trajectory. “Overall, I’m really happy to see the team progress and improve through the season," she stated.
