Review of the Callaway CB Wedge on Plugged In Golf

The Callaway CB wedge is a new offering from the brand that aims to provide confidence and forgiveness for golfers’ short games. With a combination of classic looks and game improvement features, this wedge is designed to benefit a wide range of golfers who may not have elite ball-striking skills. In recent years, there has been a focus on adding forgiveness to clubs, but wedges have often been overlooked in this regard. Callaway’s new CB wedge shows that it is possible to have both forgiveness and performance in a wedge.

The Callaway CB wedge has a classic wedge design that is easy to look at down by the ball. The face is slightly taller and wider than other wedges, with a wider sole and a slightly chunkier top line. Visual cues such as full face grooves and a matte finish on the faces set the CB apart from other wedges in the market. These features are meant to give golfers confidence that the ball will come off well regardless of where it is struck on the face.

In terms of sound and feel, the Callaway CB wedge offers a lower-pitched sound that is closer to a ‘whack’ than a ‘click.’ The feel on chips may not be as pleasurable as a traditional bladed wedge, but well-struck shots still feel great. The club features Urethane Microspheres behind the face to enhance sound and feel. Performance-wise, the CB wedge excels in providing spin on chips and flying high and straight on full shots.

Around the greens, the wide sole of the CB wedge may not be easy to manipulate for certain shots. The club is best suited for players who prefer a straightforward approach to playing shots around the green. The full face grooves may not be appealing to all golfers, but they do provide a performance benefit in terms of forgiveness and consistency. The longer grip on the CB wedge allows players to choke down further for more control on delicate chips.

Overall, the Callaway CB wedge is a versatile club that caters to golfers who use game improvement irons and are looking for forgiveness in their wedges. It offers a blend of traditional wedge performance with added forgiveness that blade wedges cannot match. Golfers who are in the market for a new wedge should consider the CB wedge as a viable option for improving their short game. With its performance features and classic looks, the Callaway CB wedge is a solid choice for golfers looking to upgrade their equipment.
