The Callaway Opus wedge is a high-spinning, low-launching wedge designed for skilled players looking for a Tour-style ball flight. The wedge features four sole options to provide versatility and shotmaking options. The Spin Gen Face Technology ensures consistent spin and predictability on wedge shots. The wedge has a compact shape at address and a clean, timeless look in the bag, with three finish options available.

In terms of sound and feel, the Callaway Opus wedge has a medium-soft feel with a crisp “click” on center strikes. Strikes that are less than perfect result in a duller “thud,” providing feedback to better players on the quality of their shots. The wedge offers a great sense of where the ball has struck the face, allowing players to adjust their game accordingly. The Spin Gen Face Technology, featuring more grooves on the face, offset groove-in-groove, and a new face blast treatment, helps to achieve elite-level spin and consistency.

During launch monitor testing, the Callaway Opus wedge stood out for its low launch and high spin characteristics. The wedge consistently launched the ball lower than comparable wedges on both half and full shots. The four sole options – T, C, S, and W grinds – offer players a range of choices for different playing conditions and swing types. In testing, the S, W, and C grinds provided versatility over dig insurance, with the W Grind offering the most protection against digging.

Overall, the Callaway Opus wedge is a standout option for skilled players looking for a wedge that delivers a Tour-style ball flight with high spin and low launch. The wedge’s consistent spin and predictable carry distances make it easier for players to control their wedge shots around the green. The four sole options provide a range of versatility and shotmaking capabilities, making the wedge a valuable addition to any player’s bag. With its compact shape, clean design, and superior performance, the Callaway Opus wedge is a top choice for players looking to elevate their short game.
