Stop Pulling Your Putts with This Guaranteed Method

Putting is an essential aspect of the game of golf, and Eric DeKarski, a golf instructor at Ballamor Golf Club in New Jersey, has shared a technique in a recent video posted on his Instagram page that he claims can help golfers stop pulling their putts. According to DeKarski, pulling a putt can ruin a golfer’s line and speed, regardless of how well they have those aspects of their game down. DeKarski’s method involves three key parts: adjusting ball position to be slightly more centralized, adding a forward press with the hands, and focusing on minimizing wrist movement during the stroke. By following these steps, DeKarski believes that golfers can eliminate the tendency to pull their putts and improve their overall putting performance.

The effectiveness of DeKarski’s technique has been tested by the author, a 14-handicap golfer, who tried the method and found success in eliminating pulls from their putts. By adjusting their ball position, adding a forward press, and reducing wrist movement, the author was able to hit 10 putts with no pulls. While DeKarski claims that his method is guaranteed to stop pulling putts, the author found it to be an effective approach that addresses common issues that lead to pulled putts. Additionally, DeKarski’s putting stroke, characterized by a short follow-through similar to that of professional golfer Cam Smith, contributes to the success of his technique.

In addition to DeKarski’s putting tips, GOLF Top 100 teacher Kellie Stenzel has shared a 5-step plan to help golfers become better putters. Stenzel emphasizes the importance of having a good setup, practicing stroke path with a putter that fits well, and focusing on distance control through drills that improve stroke length and accuracy. By developing these fundamental skills and dedicating time to practice, golfers can enhance their putting performance, lower their putts per round, and improve their overall scores. Stenzel also suggests working on adjusting stroke size for uphill and downhill putts to gain confidence and consistency on the greens.

Equipment plays a crucial role in putting performance, as having a putter that fits the golfer’s stroke and posture can significantly impact their ability to control distance and direction. Stenzel recommends using a putting mirror to develop a good setup, along with focusing on stroke path and stroke length to improve distance control. By practicing with purpose and utilizing drills that target specific aspects of putting technique, golfers can refine their skills and build confidence on the greens. For more tips on short game and putting, golfers can explore resources like Parker McLachlin, known as the Short Game Chef, who offers valuable insights and techniques to improve performance near the green.

Overall, becoming a great putter requires a combination of technical skill, practice, and dedication to mastering the fundamentals of putting. By following expert advice from instructors like DeKarski and Stenzel, golfers can enhance their putting performance, lower their scores, and enjoy greater success on the course. With a focus on proper setup, stroke path, distance control, and equipment selection, golfers can develop the confidence and consistency needed to excel in their putting game. By incorporating structured practice and targeted drills into their routine, golfers can sharpen their skills and become more proficient on the greens, ultimately leading to improved overall performance on the golf course.
