The Peters Family Wins Fifth Mothers & Daughters’ Title

Ann and Alex Peters from Shifnal Golf Club in Shropshire successfully defended their title at the Mothers and Daughters event at Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club. This marked their fifth win in the historic event, with Ann expressing her excitement as it may be their last time competing as Mrs and Miss Peters due to Alex’s upcoming marriage. The duo showcased their skills on a composite course featuring holes from both the Pam Barton and JH Taylor courses, with Alex playing off a +3 handicap and Ann off a 6 handicap. Despite the challenging conditions, the pair navigated the course well and praised the excellent condition of the fairways and greens.

The Mothers and Daughters event, which has been held at the Richmond venue for over 50 years, is a 27-hole medal foursomes competition open to female pairs from across the UK. It remains one of the longest-running events for women golfers in the country, dating back to 1932. Competing in a full field of talented golfers, Ann and Alex emerged victorious once again, while Karen and Madelene Kuhler from Walton Heath secured the runner-up position. Additionally, Eliza Jarvis from Hindhead was awarded the Meg Kent Trophy for U16 players, highlighting the diverse talent that the event attracts.
