The Zurich Classic is a unique event on the PGA Tour schedule, featuring a two-man team format in the relaxed atmosphere of New Orleans. With less media attention than bigger events, it allows players to focus on their game and try out new gear. The 2025 Zurich Classic showcased some cool and interesting gear finds in the pros’ golf bags. Here are seven of the coolest things spotted at the tournament.

Collin Morikawa’s TaylorMade SIM Ti Rocket 3-wood stood out as a classic yet effective club choice. The low-spinning fairway wood features a V Steel sole plate and a ZATECH titanium face for optimal performance. Morikawa’s customization of the club to achieve a left start line highlights his attention to detail in his equipment selection.

Gary Woodland’s Scotty Cameron Studio Style center shaft prototype putter caught attention as a potential game-changer. With the zero torque trend gaining popularity on Tour, this innovative putter design offers stability and precision for improved putting performance.

Camilo Villegas’ use of Grooved Golf Grips showed a unique approach to enhancing clubhead awareness. The customized grips, created by Dr. Lanny Johnson, provide golfers with imprints on their fingers for better control and feel. Villegas’ long-standing use of these grips showcases his commitment to finding an edge in his equipment.

Jake Knapp’s custom “Mighty Ducks” driver shaft added a personal touch to his gear setup. Sponsored by the Anaheim Ducks, Knapp’s choice of a Project X HZRDUS T1100 TX 70g shaft reflects his loyalty to his favorite sports team and adds a unique flair to his equipment.

Joel Dahmen’s Sun Mountain X Marucci stand bag stood out as a stylish and functional choice on the PGA Tour. Featuring a collaboration between Sun Mountain and Marucci, the bag’s design resembles the craftsmanship of Marucci’s baseball gloves, adding a touch of elegance to Dahmen’s on-course style.

Karl Vilips’ TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Driver surprised many with its unconventional usage. Vilips opted to replace his traditional driver with the new mini driver model, showcasing a shift towards versatility and innovation in equipment choices on the Tour. The club’s modern design and adjustable weighting system offer golfers greater control and shot shape options.

Paul Peterson’s Nike Vapor Pro irons brought a familiar brand back into the spotlight on the PGA Tour. Despite Nike’s exit from the hard goods business, players like Peterson continue to rely on the performance and quality of Nike irons in their game. The resurgence of Swoosh sticks on the Tour reflects the timeless appeal of Nike’s equipment offerings.

Overall, the 2025 Zurich Classic presented a diverse range of gear finds that highlighted the players’ dedication to finding the best equipment for their game. From classic choices like Morikawa’s fairway wood to innovative designs like Villegas’ grips and Knapp’s custom shaft, the tournament showcased the evolving landscape of equipment technology in professional golf. As players continue to push the boundaries of performance and customization, the world of golf gear remains an exciting and dynamic aspect of the sport.
