The BMW Championship marks the conclusion of the PGA Tour and the beginning of the FedEx Cup playoffs. The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings advance to the Tour Championship finale, where they have the chance to win a first prize of $25 million. Among the players competing are World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy, and Viktor Hovland. However, not all high-profile players were able to make it to the Tour Championship, as some fell short at the BMW Championship. Here are seven of the biggest names who missed out on the opportunity to compete for the FedEx Cup.

Brian Harman narrowly missed out on the Tour Championship after finishing 25th at the BMW Championship, just below the cut-off for the top 30. Former World No.1 Jason Day also fell short after a poor opening round at the BMW Championship, finishing T33. Will Zalatoris, who had been recovering from back surgery, needed a top-six finish at the BMW Championship to qualify for the Tour Championship but fell just short. Matt Fitzpatrick, the 2022 US Open champion, also missed out on the opportunity to compete for the FedEx Cup after a damaged driver affected his performance at the BMW Championship.

Cameron Young struggled with inconsistency at the BMW Championship, ultimately finishing four places beneath the cut-off for the Tour Championship. Max Homa needed a top-five finish at the BMW Championship to advance to the Tour Championship but finished T33, leaving him 46th in the FedEx Cup standings. Despite a successful rookie season that included two PGA Tour victories, Nick Dunlap missed out on the Tour Championship after finishing T31 at the BMW Championship. Despite falling short of the top 30, Dunlap and the other players who missed out on the Tour Championship will still have guaranteed places in next season’s prestigious events.

Overall, the BMW Championship saw the field for the FedEx Cup playoffs narrow from 50 to just 30 players. While some high-profile players like Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele advanced to the Tour Championship, others like Brian Harman, Jason Day, and Will Zalatoris narrowly missed out on the opportunity to compete for the $25 million first prize. Despite falling short at the BMW Championship, players like Nick Dunlap, who had a successful rookie season on the PGA Tour, still have guaranteed places in next season’s prestigious events. The FedEx Cup playoffs continue to be a thrilling conclusion to the PGA Tour season, with players competing for the ultimate prize in professional golf.
