Pinehurst, a renowned golf destination located in North Carolina’s Sandhills region, is home to 11 impressive golf courses, including the prestigious No. 2 course, which will be the site of the 2024 U.S. Open. While No. 2 is a major draw for golf enthusiasts, Pinehurst offers a variety of layouts for players to enjoy across its expansive property. Known as “The Cradle of American Golf,” Pinehurst is currently hosting the United States Golf Association’s 1,000th championship, solidifying its status as a premier golf destination.

The Golf House Pinehurst and the World Golf Hall of Fame recently opened near the resort’s main clubhouse, establishing Pinehurst as the USGA’s first anchor site. With a rich history in the sport, Pinehurst continues to attract golfers from around the world who come to experience the diverse array of courses available in Moore County. The No. 2 course has hosted four men’s U.S. Open tournaments in the last 25 years, further highlighting its significance in the golf world.

Pinehurst’s 11 golf courses offer a range of challenges and experiences for players of all skill levels. No. 1, the oldest course at Pinehurst, provides an excellent warmup for golfers looking to ease into their game before taking on the more demanding No. 2 course. No. 4, redesigned by Gil Hanse in 2018, has become a favorite among locals and hosted the 2019 U.S. Amateur. No. 9, designed by Jack Nicklaus, offers wider fairways and forgiving greens compared to the iconic No. 2 course.

The newest addition to Pinehurst’s roster is No. 10, a Tom Doak-designed course that opened in April 2024. Situated in the secluded Pinehurst Sandmines, No. 10 covers over 900 acres and offers a challenging par-70 layout with the longest yardage among the resort’s courses. The Cradle, a nine-hole par-3 course located near the main clubhouse, is known as “the most fun 10 acres in all of golf” and offers free replay rounds for added enjoyment.

Each of Pinehurst’s courses presents its own unique characteristics and challenges for golfers to navigate. From the historic No. 1 course to the revered No. 2 course and the stunning No. 4 course, players have a diverse range of layouts to explore and enjoy. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer looking for a major championship experience or a casual player seeking a fun and forgiving round, Pinehurst offers something for everyone in the picturesque setting of North Carolina’s Sandhills.

In conclusion, Pinehurst Resort and Country Club stands as a premier golf destination with a rich history and a collection of top-rated courses. From the iconic No. 2 course to the newer additions like No. 10, Pinehurst offers golfers of all levels the opportunity to experience world-class golf in a beautiful setting. With the recent opening of the Golf House Pinehurst and the World Golf Hall of Fame, Pinehurst continues to solidify its place as a must-visit destination for golf enthusiasts around the world. Plan your next golf getaway to Pinehurst and discover the magic of “The Cradle of American Golf.”
