PXG has recently released their first true game improvement iron, the Black Ops iron, completing the Black Ops family alongside the Black Ops driver and fairway woods. The technology behind the Black Ops iron includes a Dual Cavity Design to increase MOI, XCOR2 Technology for forgiveness on mishits, and a high-strength maraging steel face with Power Channel Technology for increased ball speeds. The iron features a brushed steel finish and a carbon effect badge on the rear, giving it a premium look. Despite being a bit bulky in the short irons, the iron instills confidence at address with its substantial footprint and offset.

During testing, the Black Ops iron performed excellently with a soft feel, high ball speeds, and impressive forgiveness. The 28˚ 7-iron loft produced mid-high ball flights that will cater to most golfers. The only downside mentioned was the difficulty in determining where on the face the ball was struck due to the high levels of forgiveness. Overall, the Black Ops iron is praised for its aesthetics, forgiveness, and distance capabilities, making it one of the most impressive game improvement irons on the market. The iron will be available in various configurations and will retail for $149.99 or £139 per club.

With the release of the PXG Black Ops iron, golfers now have a game improvement option within the Black Ops family, adding to the previous releases of the Black Ops driver and fairway woods. This iron introduces a Dual Cavity Design, XCOR2 Technology, and Power Channel Technology to enhance performance on the course. The iron’s brushed steel finish and carbon effect badge give it a premium aesthetic appeal, while its large sole and offset design instill confidence at address for higher-handicap players.

Testing of the PXG Black Ops iron revealed its impressive performance with a soft feel, high ball speeds, and significant forgiveness on off-center hits. The 7-iron loft produced mid-high ball flights suitable for a wide range of golfers. However, the iron’s high level of forgiveness made it challenging to determine where the ball was struck on the face. Despite this feedback limitation, the PXG Black Ops iron is deemed as one of the most exceptional game improvement irons on the market, with qualities such as aesthetics, forgiveness, and distance.

The PXG Black Ops iron will be available in various configurations, including 4-9 irons, wedges, and hybrids, catering to different player preferences. Priced at $149.99 or £139 per club, the Black Ops iron offers high-quality performance for golfers seeking forgiveness and distance in their iron play. Overall, the PXG Black Ops iron is a strong contender in the game improvement iron category, combining advanced technology with premium aesthetics to enhance the overall golfing experience for players of all skill levels.
