The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, located in South Carolina, is set to host another major golf tournament in 2031. This prestigious venue was the site of Phil Mickelson’s historic PGA Championship victory in 2021, where he became the oldest player to win a men’s major. The PGA of America also announced that the 2029 Girls and Boys Junior PGA Championships will be held at the Ocean Course, further solidifying its reputation as a top-notch golf destination.

The 113th PGA Championship in 2031 will mark the third time the Wanamaker Trophy is contested at the Ocean Course. Previously, the course hosted the PGA Championship in 2012, won by Rory McIlroy, and in 2021. The Ocean Course is now one of only nine courses to have hosted three or more PGA Championships, demonstrating its status as a premier championship venue. In addition to the PGA Championships, the Ocean Course has also been the site of other notable events such as the 1991 Ryder Cup, the 2005 PGA Professional Championship, and the 2007 Senior PGA Championship.

Designed by renowned architect Pete Dye and opened in 1991, the Ocean Course offers a unique and challenging layout for golfers. Dye’s innovative design, inspired by his wife Alice’s suggestion to place fairways and greens closer to the dunes along the Atlantic Ocean, provides breathtaking views and exposes players to the elements, particularly the coastal winds. This strategic layout has contributed to the Ocean Course’s reputation as one of the most scenic and challenging courses in the world.

PGA of America President John Lindert expressed excitement about bringing the Junior PGA Championships and PGA Championship back to the Ocean Course. With its picturesque coastal setting, challenging layout, and rich history of hosting memorable events, the Ocean Course is an ideal destination for top-level golf competitions. Players and spectators alike can expect world-class golf and unforgettable moments at these upcoming championships.

In addition to its championship pedigree, the Ocean Course is highly ranked among golf courses worldwide. Its stunning views, challenging design, and rich history have earned it accolades and recognition from the golfing community. The opportunity to play on a course of this caliber is a dream come true for many golfers, making the Ocean Course a must-visit destination for golf enthusiasts.

As the Ocean Course prepares to host the PGA Championship and Junior PGA Championships in the coming years, golf fans can look forward to witnessing top-tier competition on one of golf’s most iconic courses. Whether it’s watching future stars in the Junior PGA Championships or witnessing the drama of a major championship unfold, the Ocean Course promises to deliver unforgettable moments and some of the best golf experiences in the world. With its stunning coastal setting, challenging layout, and rich history, the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort continues to solidify its reputation as a premier golf destination.
