At the 2024 Dow Championship, the team of 21-year-old golf prodigies Atthaya Thitikul and Ruoning Yin took the golf world by storm as they secured victory with a final-round score of 62 in the best-ball format. This win marked the third LPGA victory for both players, solidifying their status as rising stars in the world of professional golf. The partnership between Thitikul and Yin came about unexpectedly during a Callaway sponsorship shoot, with Thitikul jokingly stating that Yin had no option but to play with her. Their chemistry on the course was evident as they finished at 22 under for the tournament, narrowly edging out Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho by a single shot.

As a result of their impressive performance at the Dow Championship, both Thitikul and Yin have garnered attention as potential contenders for this year’s Solheim Cup. With their skill set and understanding of each other’s game, the duo could prove to be a formidable team in the alternate shot format. The victory at the Dow Championship not only solidified their partnership but also highlighted their potential for success on the international stage.

The tournament also featured notable pairings such as Danish players Nicole Broch Estrup and Nanna Koerstz Estrup, who finished tied for third with South Koreans Haeji Kang and In Kyung Kim at 19 under. Additionally, first-time Dow participant Charley Hull teamed up with lifelong friend Georgia Hall to secure a share of third place with Auston Kim and Grace Kim. The event brought together a diverse group of players, showcasing the depth of talent in the women’s golf world.

Throughout the tournament, players like Brooke Henderson and Lexi Thompson, Nasa Hataoka and Jin Young Ko, and the experienced duo of Brittany Lincicome and Brittany Lang vied for a top spot in the leaderboard. Lincicome and Lang, affectionately known as the Killer Bees, humorously acknowledged their age on tour by jokingly considering changing their team name to AARP or Life Alert. Despite their lighthearted banter, the pair demonstrated their competitive spirit and continued success in the sport.

The presence of John Shippen Women’s Invitational winner Georgia Oboh and her partner Lakareber Abe added intrigue to the tournament, as both players were competing on a sponsor exemption without LPGA status. Their strong performance, which earned them a tie for eighth place, showcased the talent and potential of up-and-coming players in the women’s game. Overall, the 2024 Dow Championship provided a platform for both established stars and emerging talents to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level in women’s golf.
