Chanettee Wannasaen clinched her second LPGA victory at the Dana Open, coming into the final round with a lead for the first time in her career. The 20-year-old Thai player held off competition from Haeran Ryu, ultimately winning by one stroke with birdies on the last two holes. Wannasaen becomes the third Thai player to win a title this season, joining Patty Tavatankit and Atthaya Thitikul. She is also the youngest winner of the season at just 20 years old. Despite feeling nervous throughout the final round, Wannasaen managed to stay focused and secure the victory, with plans to continue pursuing more trophies in her future.

The event also saw strong performances from other players, such as Mary Liu and Ssu-Chia Cheng, who finished in the top 5 and earned valuable CME points to secure their LPGA Tour cards for the next season. Linn Grant of Sweden aimed for a successful title defense but ultimately fell short, finishing in a share of third place. American Solheim Cup captain Stacy Lewis also had a strong showing, finishing in a share of seventh place and feeling positive about her game after a recent turnaround in form. Lexi Thompson, who plans to scale back her schedule after this season, was honored with a celebration during the event.

During the final round, Wannasaen and Ryu had to wait a significant amount of time on the 18th tee as players ahead completed their rounds. Wannasaen navigated the challenging par 5 18th hole with a risky fairway metal shot, ultimately securing the victory. Looking ahead, Wannasaen expressed her desire to continue competing for more titles in the future, showing her determination and ambition as a young player on the tour. The event showcased the competitive nature and talent of the current LPGA players, with the tour returning to Portland in the near future for more exciting competition.

Overall, the Dana Open provided a platform for both seasoned players and rising stars to showcase their skills and determination on the LPGA Tour. Wannasaen’s victory marked a significant milestone in her career, solidifying her status as a player to watch in future tournaments. With strong performances from players like Liu, Cheng, Grant, Lewis, and Thompson, the event highlighted the depth of talent and competitive spirit within the LPGA. As the tour progresses, fans can look forward to more thrilling moments and exciting competition as players continue to strive for success on the international stage.
