In the 2024 PGA Tour season, 24 golf holes were played that stretched beyond 600 yards. These holes were spread across various courses and tournaments, with the Plantation Course at Kapalua hosting the longest hole at 677 yards. Castle Pines Golf Club, located at a 6,400-foot elevation, had three holes on this list, including the second-longest at 662 yards and another at 655 yards. Other courses with multiple holes over 600 yards included Grand Reserve Club, TPC San Antonio Oaks Course, Vidanta Vallarta, and Puntacana Resort and Club Corales Course.

Major championships like the U.S. Open and the Open Championship also featured holes over 600 yards. The U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 had a 617-yard hole, while the Open Championship at Royal Troon had a 623-yard hole. However, the Masters and the PGA Championship did not have any holes that exceeded 600 yards during the 2024 season. The list of 24 holes included a variety of courses from around the world, showcasing the challenge and diversity of golf course design.

The courses that hosted these long holes range from traditional links courses like Royal Troon to modern championship venues like TPC Sawgrass. The yardages of these holes present a unique challenge to the best golfers in the world, testing their distance and accuracy off the tees. Players competing in these tournaments had to strategize and adjust their game plans to account for the length of these holes, which could influence the outcome of the competition.

In addition to individual hole challenges, these longer holes also showcase the overall length and difficulty of the courses they are a part of. Courses like Castle Pines and Grand Reserve Club, known for their elevation changes and natural landscapes, provided a picturesque yet demanding test for the players. The combination of elevation, hazards, and length made these courses memorable for both the players and the spectators.

The variety of tournaments represented on this list, from the U.S. Open to the Rocket Mortgage Classic, demonstrates the range of challenges that professional golfers face throughout the season. Each tournament has its own unique set of obstacles and characteristics, with courses designed to test different aspects of a player’s game. The presence of multiple long holes at each tournament adds an element of unpredictability and excitement for both players and fans alike.

As the sport of golf continues to evolve, courses are being designed with longer and more challenging holes to keep up with advancements in equipment and player fitness. These longer holes not only test a player’s physical abilities but also their mental fortitude and strategic thinking. Golf fans can expect to see more courses incorporating these types of holes in the future to provide a more comprehensive and engaging experience for players and spectators alike.
