The ZX7 and ZX7 MKII irons from Srixon have consistently been among the top irons in the game, with many non-contracted touring professionals choosing to use them in their bags. The latest iteration, the ZXi7, builds on this legacy with improvements in impact feel and overall performance. Srixon has used a process called ‘i-FORGED’ to select the best steels for each iron, leading to a softer feel and better feedback at contact.

One of the key changes in the ZXi7 irons is the inclusion of an expanded PureFrame behind the sweet spot to reduce vibrations and deliver a more stable strike. This has resulted in a 9.3% reduction in vibration displacement compared to the previous generation. The irons have a sleek and sophisticated look with minimal branding and a well-balanced design that appeals to the eye.

Testing the ZXi7 irons at Saunton Golf Club with TaylorMade TP5 golf balls, the reviewer found the experience to be one of the most enjoyable testing sessions in recent memory. While the irons may not produce extraordinary distance or height, they excel in consistency and offer a buttery soft feel with genuine feedback. The impressive turf interaction of the Tour V.T. sole adds to the overall performance of the irons.

The ZXi7 irons stand out in terms of feel and performance, competing with top models from brands like TaylorMade and Mizuno. The enhancements made to the ZXi7 have elevated its position in the market, offering golfers a premium experience on the course. The irons are designed for low-handicap players looking for precision and control in their iron play.

Srixon has managed to improve upon a successful model without compromising its core strengths, making the ZXi7 a formidable option for serious golfers. The irons are priced at £999 for a 6-piece steel set and £1,099 for graphite shafts, making them a competitive choice for players looking for high-quality irons at a reasonable price point. Overall, the Srixon ZXi7 irons deliver exceptional performance, feel, and playability, solidifying their position as one of the best irons in the game.
