Justin Rose, a top TOUR player with impressive accolades including a 2016 Summer Olympic Games Gold medal and a 2013 U.S. Open victory, is known for his willingness to test out new golf equipment. Despite trying various clubs and shafts on the market, Rose often sticks with a combination of new technology and older clubs in his bag. One recent change in his equipment lineup includes switching to Titleist’s new GT3 driver, set at a B2 hosel configuration with standard loft and a 0.75-degree upright lie angle.

A unique feature of Rose’s driver setup is the lead tape he wraps around the butt-end of his Project X HZRDUS shaft. This addition helps to counterbalance the club, adding weight overall but reducing the swing weight to give the head a lighter feel. This modification can make the shaft feel smoother during the swing transition, providing a more connected feeling for the golfer. While not suitable for everyone, amateurs looking to try a counter-balanced driver shaft may find it worth experimenting with for improved performance.

Despite using the latest Titleist technology for his driver, Rose opts to stick with his trusty TaylorMade M6 fairway woods (15 and 21 degrees) released in 2016. Comfort and familiarity with equipment can often outweigh the need for cutting-edge technology, as is the case with Rose’s choice of fairway woods. Rather than focusing solely on maximizing distance, Rose prioritizes control with these clubs to enhance his overall performance on the course.

Moving on to his iron setup, Rose has transitioned to a mixed set of Titleist T100 long irons (4 and 5) and Titleist 620 MB mid-to-short irons (6-PW) equipped with KBS Tour C-Taper 125 S+ shafts. These irons have remained in his bag since the 2024 Masters, showcasing his confidence in their performance. Recently, Rose made a subtle customization by replacing his shaft labels with new, custom “Rose” KBS shaft labels, a personal touch that top TOUR players like him can afford.

The ability to personalize equipment is a luxury reserved for elite golfers like Justin Rose, who has earned his reputation through consistent success on the PGA TOUR. His attention to detail in selecting and fine-tuning his equipment reflects his dedication to achieving optimal performance on the course. For golf enthusiasts, observing the equipment choices of top players like Rose provides valuable insights into how equipment can impact gameplay and why finding the right fit is crucial for success in golf.
