To ensure lowering your score on the golf course, it’s crucial to be consistent and confident in making short putts, especially those within three feet. A common struggle for many amateur golfers is the anxiety and pressure that comes with these short putts. However, mastering them can lead to significant improvements in your overall game. Working on your skills from this distance can be the difference between shooting low-80s and high-80s on a round.

One helpful drill to improve your proficiency in sinking three-foot putts is the calibration drill demonstrated by GOLF Top 100 Teacher Jamie Mulligan. This drill involves setting up three tees parallel to the hole and utilizing a putting mirror to ensure proper alignment of your body and putter. The goal of this drill is to establish a consistent setup and stroke for three-foot putts, making it feel more natural and comfortable during actual rounds of golf. By practicing this setup repeatedly, you can increase your chances of success on the putting green.

The key to successfully making three-foot putts lies in aligning your body, eye-line, shoulders, arms, hands, and feet perfectly over the ball. This precision ensures that you have more success when facing breaks or different putt lengths on the golf course. By daily calibration practice, you can develop a more accurate and reliable putting stroke, ultimately leading to a more consistent performance on the greens. The attention to detail in setting up for short putts can be a game-changer for your golf game overall.

For those golfers without access to a putting mirror, Mulligan suggests using a club or alignment stick to mimic the same setup and alignment process. This alternative method allows you to achieve the same benefits as the calibration drill with tees and a mirror. By focusing on aligning your body and the ball correctly over the target line through consistent practice, you can significantly improve your chances of sinking crucial three-foot putts. The repetition and attention to detail in your setup will translate to better performance on the golf course.

To enhance your putting stroke and build confidence on the greens, the Perfect Roll Putting Mirror is a useful training aid that can help you improve your consistency and accuracy. This compact mirror allows you to develop a consistent setup and stroke mechanics, leading to more made putts. Its design includes tee holes for securing it to the putting green and white and green lines for stroke path feedback. By incorporating this training tool into your practice routine, you can hone your putting skills and become more confident in your ability to sink short putts.
