The Asian tour’s International Series concluded with a thrilling playoff between Joaquin Niemann, Cameron Smith, and Caleb Surratt. Niemann emerged victorious after a close competition at Riyadh Golf Club, where he held a one-shot lead at the start of the final round over Surratt and Peter Uihlein. Niemann had a strong start with birdies on his first three holes, making a strong bid for his first Asian Tour title. Despite Surratt and Smith also performing well, it was Niemann’s consistency that ultimately secured his victory.

Uihlein, who was aiming for his third International Series win of the year, struggled in the final round with nine straight pars before falling down the leaderboard. Meanwhile, Smith made a strong comeback with a blemish-free nine-under 62 to put himself in contention for a maiden Asian Tour victory. Niemann and Surratt continued to impress with solid performances throughout the final round, leading to a playoff after they finished level with Smith.

In the playoff, Niemann’s consistency shone through as he birdied the crucial holes while Smith and Surratt faltered, securing the victory. This win also had significant implications for the LIV Golf circuit, as Niemann’s victory meant that he finished at the top of the International Series standings, denying others a chance at claiming a contract for the 2025 season. Despite missing out on the playoff, Ben Campbell came close to securing a LIV Golf card with a strong final round performance.

Niemann’s win not only awarded him $1m in prize money but also boosted his world ranking from 124th to a provisional 73rd, enhancing his chances of qualifying for next year’s Majors. This victory added to his successful year, which included two LIV Golf victories. The competition in the Asian Tour’s International Series showcased the talent and competitiveness of the players, with each golfer giving their best shot at securing a win. Overall, Niemann’s triumph in the playoff was a testament to his skill and determination on the course.
