After a 14-year wait, England’s John Parry claimed his second DP World Tour title with a stunning final round of 64 at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Parry’s last victory on the tour was in 2010 at the Vivendi Cup when he was just 23 years old. Following a period of extended loss of form, Parry spent time on the Challenge Tour and EuroPro Tour before rediscovering his best form in 2024.

In 2021, Parry won the EuroPro Tour’s Cumberwell Park Championship before returning to the winner’s circle four times in 2024. The first three victories came on the Challenge Tour, and after earning promotion back to the European Tour, Parry secured a win at Mont Choisy with a score of 14-under, two strokes ahead of the competition.

Starting the final round five strokes off the lead, Parry made a strong start and surged down the back nine with a chip-in eagle at the 12th hole. He finished with a birdie at the last, setting the clubhouse target at 14-under. Parry credited his chip-in eagle as a key moment in his final round, giving him momentum for the rest of the day.

As overnight leaders Eddie Pepperell and Dylan Naidoo faltered, Parry capitalized on his outstanding stretch of holes, making birdies on 13, 14, 16, and 18 to secure the victory. Reflecting on his journey, Parry revealed that he had considered giving up professional golf a few years ago but persevered to reach this moment.

Parry’s victory not only earned him over $260,000 in prize money but also saw him finish at the top of the DP World Tour’s Opening Swing Rankings, earning an additional $200,000. South Africans Naidoo and Christo Lamprecht tied for second place, with Jovan Rebula finishing in solo fourth.

Following the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, the DP World Tour will take a break until the new year, returning with the Dubai Desert Classic in January. The event is part of the Rolex Series and promises to be another exciting competition on the European Tour. John Parry’s triumph in Mauritius marks a significant milestone in his career and serves as inspiration for aspiring golfers.
