Davis Love III made history at the 2015 Wyndham Championship by becoming the third-oldest winner in PGA Tour history with a final-round 64. At that tournament in North Carolina, Love used a set of clubs that were a reflection of his experience and skill on the course. Let’s take a closer look at what was in DL3’s bag nine years ago.

Love’s driver of choice at the time was the TaylorMade SLDR 460 with a 9-degree loft. Paired with a Mitsubishi Diamana D+ 82 X shaft, this combination helped him achieve the distance and accuracy needed off the tee. His 3-wood was the TaylorMade RocketBallz Stage 2 Tour with a 13-degree loft, equipped with a Mitsubishi Fubuki K 80X shaft for optimal performance.

For those long iron shots, Love relied on the Mizuno Fli-Hi (2) driving iron with a True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT Tour Issue X100 shaft. His irons included the Ping S55 (3) and the Titleist MB 714 (4-9), all with True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT Tour Issue X100 shafts for consistency and precision on approach shots.

In the short game, Love trusted Titleist Vokey wedges, including the SM4 (50 @49), the 400 Series Prototype (56 @55), and the 2014 Prototype (60-K @59). These wedges were paired with True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT Tour Issue X100 and Dynamic Gold X100 Tour Issue shafts for control and spin around the greens. Love’s putter of choice was the Scotty Cameron Tour Rat Prototype, a reliable tool for sinking crucial putts.

To complete his gear setup, Love used Bridgestone Tour B330 golf balls, providing the performance and feel he needed for his game. The combination of these clubs and balls contributed to Love’s success on the course, allowing him to compete at the highest level and secure victories like the one at the Wyndham Championship.

Overall, Love’s bag in 2015 showcased a mix of trusted and proven equipment that suited his playing style and preferences. Each club was carefully chosen to provide the distance, control, and feel required for different aspects of the game, from tee to green. The performance of these clubs, combined with Love’s skill and experience, made for a winning combination on the PGA Tour.

For golf enthusiasts looking to improve their game or explore new equipment options, Love’s bag from 2015 serves as a valuable example of a well-rounded and effective setup. By understanding the choices made by professional players like Love, recreational golfers can make informed decisions about their own gear selections, ultimately enhancing their performance on the course.

In conclusion, Davis Love III’s 2015 gear offers a glimpse into the equipment choices of a seasoned professional golfer who has achieved success at the highest levels of the game. By examining the clubs and balls that Love used during his historic win at the Wyndham Championship, golfers can gain insights into the importance of equipment selection and its impact on performance. Whether you are a beginner looking to upgrade your gear or a seasoned player seeking inspiration, Love’s bag provides valuable lessons and perspectives on the role of equipment in the game of golf.
