PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and PIF’s Yasir Al-Rumayyan, who funds the LIV Golf League, are set to meet in person once again this week. Monahan has been in Saudi Arabia attending the Future Investment Initiative, an annual conference run by the PIF in Riyadh. This news was first reported by bunkered.co.uk, which noted Monahan’s attendance along with other PGA “team members.”

The two leaders recently played in a foursome at the DP World Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, marking their first public meeting since announcing a framework agreement back in June 2023. Monahan has remained tight-lipped about the state of negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, which have been ongoing since June 2023 following the end of a legal battle between the two organizations.

Bunkered also mentioned that Monahan and Al-Rumayyan will be participating in a pro-am outing together on Thursday night in conjunction with the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Ladies Team Series Event. They are also expected to play together once more under floodlights at the Riyadh Golf Club, with LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman reportedly in attendance. The venue is set to host LIV Golf’s Promotions event in December.

Eamon Lynch, a well-known golf writer, added his perspective on the situation, stating that a deal between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia is closer but opportunists may take advantage while real fans are left waiting for more information. There is a sense of anticipation surrounding the ongoing negotiations and meetings between Monahan and Al-Rumayyan.

The continued interactions between the PGA Tour Commissioner and the head of PIF highlight the significance of the discussions taking place regarding the future of golf and the potential collaboration between the two organizations. The involvement of key figures such as Monahan, Al-Rumayyan, and Norman indicates the high stakes involved in these negotiations.

As the negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf continue, golf fans and industry experts eagerly await updates on the potential partnership between the two entities. The upcoming events and outings involving Monahan, Al-Rumayyan, and Norman suggest that progress is being made, but the details of any potential agreement remain undisclosed.

Overall, the ongoing discussions between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, as evidenced by the meetings between Monahan and Al-Rumayyan, demonstrate the complexities and importance of reaching a mutually beneficial agreement for both parties. The golfing world is closely following these developments, with hopes of a positive outcome that will shape the future of the sport for years to come. Stay tuned for more updates on this evolving story.
