The 2019 BMW Championship saw Justin Thomas emerge victorious with a three-stroke lead over Patrick Cantlay at Medinah’s No. 3 course. Thomas showcased an impressive display of skill and precision throughout the tournament, solidifying his status as one of the top players on the PGA Tour. In this article, we will take a look back at the clubs Justin Thomas had in his bag five years ago during this championship and highlight some of the key aspects of his winning performance.

Starting with his driver, Thomas used the Titleist TS3 with a loft of 9.5 degrees and a Mitsubishi Diamana BF 60 TX shaft. This combination allowed him to achieve optimal distance and accuracy off the tee, setting the tone for his success on the course. Additionally, Thomas utilized a Titleist TS3 3-wood with a 15-degree loft and a Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro Blue 80 TX shaft, providing him with versatility and control in various scenarios.

For his 5-wood, Thomas opted for the Titleist 915Fd with an 18-degree loft and a Fujikura Motore Speeder VC 9.2 Tour Spec X shaft. This club selection allowed him to navigate longer approach shots with ease, showcasing his ability to excel in all aspects of his game. Moving on to his irons, Thomas had a Titleist T100 4-iron and a set of Titleist 718 MB 5-9 irons, all equipped with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts. These irons provided the consistency and precision necessary for Thomas to execute his shots with accuracy.

In the wedge department, Thomas relied on Titleist Vokey Design SM7 wedges in 46, 52, and 56 degrees, as well as a Titleist Vokey Design SM6 wedge in 60 degrees, all with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts. These wedges played a crucial role in Thomas’ short game performance, helping him navigate around the greens with finesse and precision. For his putter, Thomas trusted a Scotty Cameron X5 model, known for its reliable performance and feel on the greens.

To complete his setup, Thomas used a SuperStroke Pistol GT Tour grip on his putter, providing him with stability and control during his putting strokes. He also utilized Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord grips on all his clubs, ensuring a consistent feel and grip throughout his bag. Lastly, Thomas played with the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball, a popular choice among professional golfers for its performance and control in all aspects of the game. Overall, Justin Thomas’ equipment choices played a significant role in his success at the 2019 BMW Championship, highlighting the importance of having the right tools to excel on the course.
