Cabot Highlands in Inverness, Scotland is set to open a new 18-hole course called Old Petty, designed by Tom Doak, in 2026. However, golfers can get a sneak peek of the course during a two-month window next summer from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30. The course is named after a historic local church and features a routing that meanders past a tidal estuary. Reservations for preview play are now available, providing an early opportunity for golfers to experience this upcoming course before its official opening.

Cabot Highlands has already gained recognition for its existing course, Castle Stuart, designed by Gil Hanse and Mark Parsinen, which currently ranks 89th on GOLF’s list of the Top 100 Courses in the World. The addition of Old Petty is expected to further elevate the reputation of Cabot Highlands as a premier golf destination. The announcement of the preview play for Old Petty comes amidst a series of expansions and investments by Cabot, including the acquisition of Golf du Médoc Resort in France and the development of Cabot Bordeaux and an investment in Lofoten Links in Norway.

For golf enthusiasts planning a trip to Scotland, the opportunity to play at Cabot Highlands and experience the new Old Petty course is a unique and exciting prospect. The Scottish Highlands offer long summer days, with the sun setting as late as 9:31 p.m. in August, providing ample time for golfers to enjoy multiple rounds of golf in a breathtaking setting. Whether it’s exploring the rugged coastline or playing on world-class courses, Cabot Highlands offers a memorable golfing experience for players of all levels.
