Professional golfer Talor Gooch is making waves in the sports industry beyond just his success on the golf course. The LIV Golf star has recently diversified his investments by purchasing his second professional team, the Mississippi Blues Angling Club, which competes in the Sport Fishing Championship. This latest acquisition adds to his previous investment in the Professional Bull Riders team, Oklahoma Wildcatters, through his company FJS Ventures. Gooch, along with minority partners Preston Lyon and Brandon Bates, has made a combined investment of $20m to $30m in these teams, with potential considerations for further investments in the Big3, X Games, and a USL soccer franchise.

However, Lyon has also expressed interest in potentially investing in Gooch’s own LIV Golf team, Brooks Koepka’s Smash GC, stating that they will always be ready to seize opportunities in LIV Golf when they arise. Gooch’s wealth and spending power mainly come from his success on the golf course. In 2023, Gooch had a standout year with three individual titles and a total prize money of over $36m, surpassing even the earnings of the 2023 PGA Tour FedEx Cup champion, Viktor Hovland. Despite a less lucrative 2024 season, he still managed to earn over $7.5m, finishing 13th on the LIV Golf money list.

Gooch’s success in the LIV Golf circuit has significantly boosted his financial standing, with earnings exceeding $10m in the first season alone. His previous career on the PGA Tour also contributed to his wealth, adding over $9m in total earnings. The expansion of his investments beyond golf showcases Gooch’s entrepreneurial spirit and his ambition to diversify his sporting interests. With the potential for further investments in various sports franchises, Gooch is positioning himself as a significant player in the sports industry.

The acquisition of the Mississippi Blues Angling Club marks Gooch’s continued expansion into the world of professional sports team ownership. Through FJS Ventures, he is building a diverse portfolio of sports investments, with a focus on teams competing in different disciplines. The potential investments in the Big3, X Games, and a USL soccer franchise demonstrate Gooch’s interest in exploring opportunities across a wide range of sporting events.

Gooch’s success as a professional golfer has provided him with the financial means to venture into team ownership and expand his business interests. His achievements on the golf course, including multiple individual titles and high earnings in the LIV Golf circuit, have solidified his position as a successful athlete and entrepreneur. By diversifying his investments and exploring opportunities in other sports, Gooch is leveraging his success in golf to establish himself as a prominent figure in the broader sports industry. With a strong financial foundation and a strategic approach to investment, Gooch is poised for continued growth and success in his sporting endeavors.
