Sedge Valley, the newest course at Sand Valley in Nekoosa, Wisconsin, offers a unique and intimate golfing experience. This par 68 course challenges players to think strategically on every shot, despite its generous fairways. Practice facilities are shared with the other Sand Valley courses, including a driving range and short game area. Customer service is impeccable, with caddies providing valuable course knowledge. The new restaurant, The Gallery, offers delicious Italian cuisine with views of the golf course.

Designed to mirror the heathland courses in England, Sedge Valley boasts a natural and subtle beauty. The course features moderate undulations and wide fairways, allowing players to appreciate the movement of the land. Tee shots require precision due to the varying lengths of holes and undulating fairways. Despite the open and airy feel of the course, the challenging undulations can make it difficult to pick a precise line off the tee. Taking a caddie is recommended for first-time players.

Approach shots at Sedge Valley present a variety of lies and challenges, including uneven stances and hidden slopes. The size of the greens, while not objectively small, can feel intimate due to the contours and shapes. The firm and fast conditions of the greens require precision and careful putting. The undulations in the surrounds dictate the approach around the greens, with strategic sand traps and elevation changes adding to the challenge.

Overall, Sedge Valley offers a golfing experience that combines precision and strategy. Off the tee, players have options to consider, while approach shots require skill and focus. The course’s subtle design and replayability make it a favorite among golfers. Favorite holes include the challenging #6 par 4 and the stunning #18 finishing hole. Sedge Valley’s addition to Sand Valley Golf Resort solidifies its reputation as the Midwest’s Bandon Dunes.

With its unique design and stunning scenery, Sedge Valley is a must-visit for golf enthusiasts looking for a challenging and enjoyable round of golf. Whether you’re a skilled player seeking strategic gameplay or a beginner looking to improve your skills, Sedge Valley offers something for everyone. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this new addition to the Sand Valley Golf Resort and take in the beauty of Wisconsin’s natural landscape. Plan your trip to Sedge Valley today and embark on a memorable golfing adventure.
