Review of the L.A.B. Golf OZ.1i Putter

L.A.B. Golf has made a significant impact in the golf industry with the introduction of their DF3 and MEZZ.1 MAX putters, which feature zero or low torque technology. Other brands have followed suit with their own versions of low torque putters, such as Odyssey and Evnroll. However, while the technology behind L.A.B. Golf putters is impressive, some golfers have struggled to buy into them due to their unconventional appearance. The new compact mid-mallet OZ.1i putter, designed in collaboration with Adam Scott, may change that perception and attract more golfers to the brand.

The OZ.1i putter features a half-moon mid-mallet shape, a departure from the brand’s previous designs. The addition of a fly-milled stainless steel insert enhances the feel and feedback of the putter, offering a softer sensation compared to the all-aluminum face of previous models. The milled insert also improves pace control, making it a popular choice for golfers who prefer a milled putter face for consistency and precision.

The OZ.1i putter is available in both 2° and 0° shaft lean options, catering to different preferences in shaft alignment. The 0° shaft lean option provides a vertical view of the shaft at address, which may be more comfortable for golfers new to low torque putters. The shaft design reduces torque and helps keep the putter face square to the path throughout the stroke, leading to more consistent and accurate putting performance.

Hand-balanced at the brand’s headquarters in Oregon, every L.A.B. Golf putter is meticulously crafted to ensure precision and quality. While this attention to detail may result in a longer lead time for custom orders, the craftsmanship and performance of the putters are well worth the wait. Stock OZ.1i putters are available for purchase on the L.A.B. Golf website for $499, with custom options such as head color, sight lines, and aftermarket putter shafts available for an additional cost.

Overall, the L.A.B. Golf OZ.1i putter offers a unique blend of technology, design, and performance that sets it apart from traditional putters on the market. With the addition of the stainless steel milled insert and new shaft lean options, the OZ.1i provides golfers with a versatile and customizable putting experience. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer looking for a new gamer or a newcomer to low torque putters, the OZ.1i is a worthy contender that may just change the way you putt.
