Review of the Ping 2024 Ketsch G Putter

In 2023, Ping launched a new line of putters simply referred to as “New Ping Putters.” This line was expanded in May 2024 with the addition of six more models, including the Ketsch G mallet putter. The Ketsch G is designed to be one of the most forgiving putters in the Ping lineup, with a large footprint and a design that sets it apart from the other models. Despite being part of the same line, the Ketsch G and the Anser D putters are completely different in terms of looks, style, and branding.

As a self-proclaimed Ping putter obsessive with a collection of vintage Pings, the reviewer was excited to try out the Ketsch G. The putter features a traditional grip, PEBAX face insert, and alignment markings on the crown, all of which contribute to a visually appealing design. In testing the Ketsch G over 18 holes at Bootle Golf Course and on a putting surface at home, the reviewer found the putter to be as forgiving as expected. While initially struggling to find the sweet spot, making adjustments to the stroke improved consistency and highlighted the benefits of the soft face insert.

The Ketsch G features a ball retriever option that enhances forgiveness by redistributing weight to the perimeter. While the ball retriever may not be practical on the course, it adds value to the overall design of the putter. Despite some limitations, such as not being able to fit in the hole for easy retrieval, the Ketsch G offers a lot in terms of forgiveness, aesthetics, and alignment aid. The large footprint and forgiving nature make it an excellent choice for beginner golfers or those who struggle with alignment and confidence on the greens. Overall, the Ping 2024 Ketsch G putter is a standout option that combines performance, forgiveness, and visual appeal for golfers of all skill levels.
