PING continues to lead the way in bringing forgiveness to the short game with the release of the s159 wedge for 2024. The wedge is designed to appeal to better players, with its compact size and elite spin capabilities. With two new grinds and a customizable look, the s159 wedge is sure to be a popular choice among players looking to improve their short game.

The first thing that stands out about the PING s159 wedge is its compact look at address. While many wedges on the market are tilting towards game improvement and larger faces, the s159 provides a sharp contrast for low handicappers. The shape is clean and simple, with a modest “PING” branding in the center of the club. The wedge is available in two finishes – Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome and Midnight – to suit your preferred look and performance needs.

The 8620 carbon steel construction of the PING s159 wedge provides precise feedback through the hands, making it easy to feel impact with each shot. Pure shots have a medium soft feel, while mishits firm up slightly. The wedge produces a quiet, tight “snap” sound when striking the ball, providing subtle audio feedback to help you differentiate between perfect shots and mishits.

In terms of performance, the PING s159 wedge excels in spin creation, with elite levels of spin on pitch and full shots. The wedge features a “face blast” of friction-adding material and tightly spaced MicroMax grooves to maximize grip on the ball and generate spin. With strong, controlled launch angles, the s159 wedge provides consistent carry distance and stopping power on every shot.

The PING s159 wedge offers six different sole grinds, including two new options – the B Grind and H Grind. The Find Your Grind online fitting tool makes it easy to select the right sole for your game, with detailed explanations of each sole’s characteristics. Whether you prefer a wider, low bounce sole for firm turf or a thin, low bounce sole for shot making, PING has a grind to suit your playing style.

Overall, the PING s159 wedge is a versatile and high-performing club that will appeal to better players looking to elevate their short game. With its compact look, elite spin capabilities, and customizable options, the s159 wedge is a top choice for players who value precision and control around the green. Work with a fitter or use PING’s online tool to find the perfect grind for your game and experience improved performance on the course.
