The TearDrop TD-7 putter is a high MOI mallet putter designed to provide consistent roll and high forgiveness on the greens. This putter features unique face technology that creates surprising results. In this article, we will delve into the performance, design, and overall feel of the TearDrop TD-7 putter to determine if it lives up to its promises.

The TearDrop TD-7 has a familiar modern mallet design with a squared off profile, wings at either side, and prominent alignment aids. The white top line may be distracting for some golfers but could help with aim. The putter appears to be constructed of two pieces screwed together, with one piece in a “seven” shape with wings and the other filling in gaps and providing stabilizing elements.

The feel of impact off the face of the TearDrop TD-7 is soft, with a gentle ‘tock’ sound. There isn’t a ton of feedback on off-center hits given the focus on forgiveness and high MOI. The putter features a stock SuperStroke grip that feels familiar and a mid-weight head that is easy to rock back and forth with a controlled stroke.

On the practice green, the TearDrop TD-7 performs exceptionally well with true forward roll and automatic distance control. The putter’s design elements seem to work to maximize player abilities, producing better results than expected. Despite the lack of detailed technology information on the TearDrop website, the Radial Face Design and Grooved Friction Face are mentioned to improve hitting line and track putts effectively.

The TearDrop TD-7 is an intriguing mallet putter with differentiating technology and superb performance on the greens. However, the lack of a premium look and feel may make some golfers question its price point of $299.99 compared to other models on the market. TearDrop offers a 60-day risk-free trial for those interested in trying out this innovative putter for themselves.
