Experiencing golf shanks is a common issue for golfers that can be frustrating and nerve-wracking. The uncertainty of when they will disappear can make the situation even more daunting. The root cause of shanks can vary, making the process of fixing them a long and challenging journey. However, there are effective ways to cure golf shanks, but it requires patience and trust in the process.

Last summer, the author experienced his struggles with golf shanks, attributing them to issues with his golf grip, swing path, and attack angle. Taking time away from golf to regroup and recover was necessary. For those looking for a gradual way to cure golf shanks, a four-tee drill demonstrated by top teacher Cathy Kim can improve ball-striking ability. Kim emphasizes the importance of setting up four tees in a wall formation and placing a club on the front side of the tees.

By then placing the ball in the middle of the clubface and confidently addressing the ball, golfers can address their shanks while avoiding anxiety about mishitting or shanking the ball. The objective of the drill is to prevent striking the ball with the heel of the club, thereby improving the strike and leading to better ball-striking. The visual aid of the tees on the ground helps golfers maintain a solid club path and make contact near the center of the face to cure golf shanks.

The Rukket Sports Pathfinder Impact Mat™ is a useful golf training mat designed to help golfers improve their game. This 2-in-1 golf swing training mat combines an impact mat and a swing path trainer to help golfers identify and correct common swing problems. With features that track club face alignment and ensure clean contact with the ball, this mat is versatile and works with every club in the golfer’s bag. The foam pylons on the mat can be used to keep swings on plane and practice hitting straighter or curved shots.

Implementing the anti-shank drill with the four tees can provide quick, easy, and effective results in curing golf shanks and improving ball-striking abilities. By avoiding contact with the tees on the ground, golfers can make clean contact with the ball away from the heel and near the center of the face. This visual guide helps golfers maintain a solid club path and leads to better results on the golf course. For more golf tips and content, viewers can explore the official LPGA YouTube channel.
