The 19th Solheim Cup kicked off with the Americans dominating the morning foursomes matches, winning three out of four matches against Team Europe. Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz won their third straight foursomes match together, setting the tone for the U.S. team at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Va. Last year, the U.S. also started strong by winning all four foursomes matches, but Europe came back to tie the event. This year, the Americans took a 3-1 lead into the afternoon four-ball session after a strong morning performance.

In the morning session, Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz secured the first point for the U.S. team by beating their European opponents Esther Henseleit and Charley Hull 3 and 2. Rose Zhang and Lauren Coughlin added another point by defeating Celine Boutier and Albane Valenzuela also 3 and 2. Lilia Vu and Sarah Schmelzel clinched the third point for the Americans with a 3-and-2 win over Linn Grant and Carlota Ciganda. The U.S. team displayed solid play and teamwork throughout the morning matches, with crucial putts and approach shots leading to their success.

The Americans controlled most of the morning session, with only one European team managing to stay ahead early in the match. Despite a strong start from Europe, the U.S. team pulled away in the remaining three matches to secure the lead heading into the afternoon four-ball session. Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz continued their impressive partnership by winning their match and becoming the first U.S. duo to win three straight foursomes matches. Their stellar play and chemistry on the course were evident as they secured another crucial point for the American team.

The Europeans managed to salvage a point in the morning session as Emily Pedersen and Maja Stark defeated Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho 2 up. Despite a strong start from the European team, the Americans fought back and narrowed the deficit towards the end of the match. With fans experiencing transportation issues to reach the course, the morning session was not without its challenges. However, the quality of play and competitiveness on display set the stage for an exciting weekend of golf at the Solheim Cup.

The afternoon four-ball session was set to begin later on Friday, with both teams looking to build on their morning performance. The action at the Solheim Cup promises to be intense and captivating, with top players from both sides showcasing their skills and competitive spirit on the course. The strong start from the U.S. team has set the tone for the rest of the matches, as they aim to reclaim the Solheim Cup title from Europe. Stay tuned for more updates and highlights from this prestigious event as the battle for the cup heats up.
