Eighteen-year-old Dylan Brack continues to make waves in the golf world by qualifying for his PGA Tour debut at the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico. Brack, who hails from Riverside, California, shot an impressive 8-under 64 at the Monday qualifier at Palmilla Golf Club. This event will be held at El Cardonal at Diamante in Los Cabos, the first course designed by his childhood idol, Tiger Woods. Brack’s journey in golf began at a very young age when he started swinging a plastic toy golf set at 2 ½ years old and joined the First Tee – Greater Pasadena at age 4 ½. He also participated in the TGR Learning Lab’s Player Development Program from ages 7 to 12 and won the inaugural TGR JR Invitational in 2022.
Growing up, Brack’s parents noticed his interest in golf and purchased right-handed clubs for him, but he would regularly turn them around to imitate the pros he saw on TV. Like Phil Mickelson, Brack began playing left-handed even though he is naturally right-handed. With a mixed Japanese and English heritage, Brack also has a family connection to golf through his great-grandfather Yutaka “James” Ihira, who was a champion golfer in Hawaii. He even counts Tadd Fujikawa as a distant relative.
Brack’s journey to the PGA Tour has been filled with ties to Tiger Woods, from his early involvement in golf programs to now making his Tour debut as an amateur. Joining him at the World Wide Technology Championship are other talented golfers like Ryan Gerard, Zach Bauchou, and William Moll, who earned their spots through strong performances at the qualifier. Gerard, who earned his Tour card for next season through the Korn Ferry Tour money list, shot 65 to secure his spot, while Bauchou and Moll also put up impressive scores.
As Brack prepares to tee off at his first PGA Tour event, the golf world is watching to see how this young talent will perform on the big stage. His journey from swinging a plastic toy set to qualifying for a prestigious event like the World Wide Technology Championship is a testament to his dedication and talent. With Tiger Woods as his childhood idol and inspiration, Brack is eager to make his mark in the golf world and continue to impress those who have supported him along the way. As he embarks on this new chapter in his golf career, all eyes will be on Dylan Brack as he competes against the best in the world.
