The latest Top 100 Courses in the U.S. ranking by GOLF magazine features some of the most exclusive golf clubs in the country. While some of these clubs are open to the public, the majority are private, and gaining access to them can be quite challenging. In this article, we take a closer look at the 14 most exclusive clubs on the list and what makes them so difficult to access.

Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, is ranked 6th on the list. Known for its picturesque setting and exclusive membership, gaining entry to Augusta is nearly impossible for the average golfer. Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois, is another historic club with a strict membership policy. With just over 100 members, this club is not the place for golfers seeking valet service and a warm welcome.

Crystal Downs Country Club in Michigan is a northern Michigan treasure with a strict policy against unaccompanied play. Cypress Point Golf Club in Monterey, California, boasts a coastal setting and a membership roster of only 250. Garden City Golf Club in New York has limited access for women and non-members, while Fishers Island Club in New York is located on a secluded island accessible only by boat or private aircraft.

Ladera Golf Club in Thermal, California, was built as a private hideaway for a select membership of friends, colleagues, and clients. Nanea Golf Club in Hawaii, founded by Charles Schwab, offers a tropical oasis for the wealthy and privileged. Ohoopee Match Club in Georgia is a rural hideaway with a unique approach to scoring, focusing more on match play than traditional stroke play.

Old Elm in Illinois and Seminole Golf Club in Florida are both exclusive clubs with limited memberships. Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey is ranked as the number one course in the U.S. and the world, making it one of the most sought-after clubs for golfers. Sand Hills Golf Club in Nebraska is a remote club with a stunning design by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York has a long history and a short members’ list that includes prominent figures like Michael Bloomberg and Charles Schwab. These clubs offer a level of exclusivity and prestige that is unmatched in the golf world, making them highly coveted by those looking for a truly elite golf experience.
