South Dakota may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of top golf destinations, but the state is home to some hidden gems that are worth checking out. GOLF’s expert panelists have identified the best golf courses in every state, and South Dakota is no exception. One of the top courses in the state is Sutton Bay, located in Agar. This course offers a unique golfing experience and is definitely worth a visit for any golf enthusiast.

Other notable courses in South Dakota include Minnehaha in Sioux Falls, The Golf Club at Red Rock in Rapid City, Elkhorn Ridge in Spearfish, and Dakota Dunes in Dakota Dunes. Each of these courses offers its own unique challenges and stunning scenery, making them must-visit destinations for golfers looking to explore the best of South Dakota’s golfing scene.

To ensure that you make the most of your golfing trip to South Dakota, GOLF has introduced a new Course Finder tool that can help you plan the perfect itinerary. With this tool, you can easily filter through various course rankings, including the Top 100 public courses, best munis, best short courses, best par-3s, and more. Additionally, you can filter by price to create a customized trip that suits your budget and preferences.

The rankings process for GOLF’s Top 100 U.S. and Top 100 You Can Play lists involved 127 handpicked panelists who evaluated a total of 609 courses. Each panelist was provided with a ballot containing 11 “buckets” or groupings, ranging from the top three courses in the U.S. to courses outside the top 250. Points were assigned to each bucket, and courses were ranked based on their average scores. This process ensures that the rankings are fair, accurate, and reflective of the panelists’ expertise and experience.

The key to a successful rankings process lies in the diversity of the panelists and their extensive knowledge of golf course architecture. Panelists come from 15 nations and have played courses all over the world, giving them a broad perspective on what makes a great golf course. By incorporating this diversity into the rankings, GOLF is able to generate meaningful and widely respected results that are valued by golf enthusiasts worldwide.

If you’re looking to improve your game and navigate the greens more effectively, consider picking up a custom Green Book from GolfLogix, an 8AM Golf affiliate. These Green Books can provide you with valuable insights and information to help you tackle even the trickiest of courses. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a beginner looking to up your game, a Green Book can be a valuable tool to have in your golfing arsenal.

In addition to its rankings, GOLF also offers an all-new travel podcast called Destination GOLF. This podcast covers a wide range of golf-related topics and destinations, providing listeners with valuable insights and recommendations to enhance their golf travels. Whether you’re planning a golfing trip to South Dakota or any other destination, Destination GOLF can be a great resource to help you make the most of your golfing adventures.
