Tyrrell Hatton made history by becoming the first ever three-time winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The 32-year-old golfer claimed his first title in 2016 and successfully defended his crown 12 months later. Hatton’s two under par round of 70 in the final round of the tournament earned him a spot in the history books. This victory marked his seventh win on the DP World Tour.

In a thrilling final round at the Old Course St Andrews, Hatton went head-to-head with Nicolas Colsaerts before finishing one stroke ahead at 24 under par. Hatton had equaled the course record with a remarkable 61 in the third round to take a one-shot lead. Despite facing challenges with dropping shots on the 13th and 14th holes, Hatton held on to secure the win with a closing birdie on the famous par-4 18th hole.

Tommy Fleetwood finished in third place with a closing score of 21 under par. Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, David Puig, and Robin Williams shared fourth place on 19 under par. In the team event, Hatton and his father Jeff finished as runners-up behind the winning team of Thorbjørn Olesen and Irish businessman Dermot Desmond.

Upon his victory, Hatton expressed his pleasure at achieving his goal of winning the tournament. He also highlighted the special experience of playing alongside his father, as it was the first time they won a tournament together. The win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship secured Hatton’s spot in upcoming prestigious events and boosted his world ranking and Ryder Cup points.

Having last won on the DP World Tour in Abu Dhabi 2021, Hatton was determined to earn enough points to participate in key events like the DP World Tour Championship, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. Winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship not only secured his spot in these tournaments but also rejuvenated his excitement for competing at the highest level.

Hatton’s consistent performance and ability to overcome challenges during the tournament showcased his skill and resilience as a golfer. His strategic play and composure under pressure were evident in his closing birdie on the final hole to clinch the victory. With this historic win, Hatton solidified his status as a top contender on the DP World Tour and a potential candidate for future Ryder Cup competitions.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship provided an exciting and competitive platform for golfers to showcase their talents and compete against a strong field. The iconic setting of the Old Course St Andrews added to the prestige of the tournament, making it a challenging yet rewarding experience for participants and spectators alike.

Overall, Tyrrell Hatton’s historic third victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship was a testament to his skill, determination, and ability to perform under pressure. The win not only secured his status as a top player on the DP World Tour but also set the stage for future success in key tournaments. Hatton’s dedication to the sport and his unwavering competitive spirit have solidified his position as a formidable force in the world of golf.
