What is the cost of attending the Masters?

The Masters tournament is the most highly anticipated major of the year in the world of golf, and with that anticipation comes high ticket prices. The allure of the Masters lies in the fact that access to Augusta National, one of the most exclusive private clubs in the world, is difficult to come by. The club’s members have first priority for access during tournament week, with week-long tickets known as series badges. Only two opportunities in the last 50 years have allowed non-members to get on a waitlist for series badges, with the cost of a four-day tournament badge priced at $450.

For those who do not have a series badge, the only other way to attend the Masters is through the annual lottery. Augusta National invites hopeful attendees to enter a lottery for the chance to purchase practice round and tournament day tickets for the following year’s tournament. Practice day tickets can be purchased for $100 each, while tournament day tickets cost $140. Resale of tickets is strictly prohibited by Augusta National, and purchasing tickets from third parties can result in exclusion from attendance.

Despite the strict resale policies, tickets for the Masters are in high demand on the secondary market, with prices reaching astronomical levels. Tickets for individual days and the entire week can be found on resale platforms like StubHub, with prices ranging from $1,383 for a Monday practice round to $20,812 for a week-long badge. Airfare and hotel accommodations are additional expenses that attendees must consider when planning their trip to the Masters.

Once on-site at Augusta National, attendees can enjoy affordable concession prices, but be prepared for the temptation of the merchandise center, where souvenirs and memorabilia can quickly add up. The Masters experience is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many golf fans, with the chance to witness the world’s top players compete on one of the most revered courses in the sport. The prestige and exclusivity of the tournament make it a bucket-list item for many, with the high ticket prices reflecting the demand for access to this iconic event. Plan ahead, enter the lottery, or prepare to splurge on the secondary market for a chance to experience the magic of the Masters in person.
