15-Year-Old Miles Russell Makes History with Final-Round 66 on Korn Ferry Tour, Secures Spot in Next Week’s Stop

Fifteen-year-old golfer Miles Russell made a name for himself during the Korn Ferry Tour’s LECOM Suncoast Classic in Florida, finishing at a strong 14-under-par total to tie for 20th place. This impressive performance earned him an exemption into the next week’s Veritex Bank Championship in Arlington, Texas, making him the youngest player to finish in the top 20 in the tour’s history. Despite the attention being on other more established players like Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda, Russell’s performance was a standout moment in the tournament.

In a playoff, Tim Widing emerged victorious over Steven Fisk and Patrick Cover with a score of 21-under-par 264. Russell, on the other hand, expressed his excitement and uncertainty about what to expect at the upcoming tournament in Texas. He aimed to make the cut and potentially have a good outing, with hopes of climbing higher up the leaderboard as he gains more experience on the tour.

Russell’s performance during the final round saw him making a strong comeback with three birdies in the first seven holes, ultimately finishing with a five-under 66. As the reigning AJGA Player of the Year and winner of prestigious events like the Junior PGA Championship and the Junior Players Championship, Russell has already made a name for himself in the amateur golf scene.
