The RBC Canadian Open, held at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Hamilton, Ontario, is the next stop on the PGA Tour schedule, following a string of exciting events including the Wells Fargo Championship, PGA Championship, and Charles Schwab Challenge. Last year’s tournament saw Nick Taylor secure a victory with a spectacular eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole, becoming the first Canadian in 59 years to win his national open. This year, fans can expect an enthusiastic turnout at the event thanks to Taylor’s triumph.

Hamilton Golf and Country Club, designed by Harry Colt in 1914, features narrow, tree-lined fairways with challenging par-3s and long, undulated greens. The course underwent a renovation by Martin Ebert after the 2019 edition to restore some of Colt’s original design characteristics. Rory McIlroy, winner by seven shots at this course in 2019, returns as a strong contender in this week’s field. The challenging layout of the course favors players with accuracy off the tee, as evidenced by past leaders in Driving Accuracy.

In preparing for the RBC Canadian Open, factors such as Strokes Gained: Approach, Scrambling, Strokes Gained: Putting (bentgrass), Good Drives, and Fairways Gained off the tee were considered. The last two Canadian Open venues were compared to find correlate courses, including Oakdale Golf and Country Club and St. George’s Golf and Country Club. Other courses such as TPC River Highlands, Pebble Beach, and Wentworth were also analyzed for potential similarities in playing conditions. The recent rainfall in the area is likely to result in a receptive course with low scores, emphasizing the need for birdie opportunities.

Among the players to watch at the RBC Canadian Open include Sahith Theegala, who has displayed consistently strong performances this season. Alex Noren, known for his exceptional short game, is also a top contender with multiple top-10 finishes and strong rankings in key statistical categories. Aaron Rai, who has performed well on correlated courses, and Mark Hubbard, enjoying a career-best year, are also strong picks for the tournament. Daniel Berger, who is showing signs of regaining form after back injuries, and Seamus Power, a solid performer in key statistics, are also worth considering in the field.

Chirp, a free-to-play mobile platform, provides additional insight into this week’s tournament with user picks for the RBC Canadian Open. With a mix of seasoned veterans and emerging talents in the field, fans and bettors can expect an exciting competition at Hamilton Golf and Country Club. As the tournament unfolds, the focus will be on accuracy off the tee, scrambling ability, and consistent putting performance on the challenging greens. Stay tuned for updates and analysis throughout the event to see which player emerges victorious at the RBC Canadian Open.
