The World Golf Hall of Fame has returned to Pinehurst, North Carolina, just in time for the 2024 U.S. Open on Course No. 2. This move brings the Hall of Fame back to its roots, as it was originally founded in Pinehurst in 1974 before being moved to St. Augustine, Florida. The hall now resides in the USGA Experience building on the newly opened Golf House Pinehurst campus. This revamped structure has the USGA responsible for day-to-day operations and artifact preservation related to the WGHOF displays.

The new Hall of Fame locker room features displays for each of the 164 Hall of Fame members, showcasing their unique golfing journey with dedicated gear and artifacts. The members are grouped thematically and chronologically, allowing visitors to explore the stories of golf legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller, Bob Jones, and Annika Sörenstam. The displays include significant items like Nicklaus’ MacGregor bag from the 1965 Masters and Miller’s final-round 63 artifacts from the 1973 U.S. Open.

The USGA Experience building also houses galleries on the first floor related to the USGA, featuring artifacts from the USGA Golf Museum and Library, the most comprehensive collection in the sport. The second floor is dedicated to the WGHOF, providing visitors with a streamlined and revamped experience. This new setup offers a deeper dive into the history and legacy of golf through the stories of its Hall of Fame members.

USGA CEO Mike Whan emphasizes the significance of Pinehurst as the perfect location for celebrating golf’s past, present, and future. The USGA’s dedication to preserving the history of the game is evident through their inclusion of the World Golf Hall of Fame at Golf House Pinehurst. This partnership ensures that the greatest moments and athletes in golf are commemorated and honored in a fitting setting that represents the essence of the sport.

The Hall of Fame provides visitors with an immersive experience into the world of golf, highlighting the achievements and contributions of its most legendary figures. From Jerry Pate, Ray Floyd, and Hubert Green to Lanny Wadkins and Susie Berning, the Hall of Fame showcases the diversity and richness of golf history. Each locker room display offers a glimpse into the personal journey and accomplishments of these iconic golfers.

Golf enthusiasts visiting Golf House Pinehurst can explore the artifacts, memorabilia, and stories that define the game of golf and its evolution over the years. From the equipment used by historic champions to the clothing worn during pivotal tournaments, the displays at the Hall of Fame offer a tangible connection to the past. Visitors can immerse themselves in the legacy of golf and gain a deeper appreciation for the sport’s heritage.

The return of the World Golf Hall of Fame to Pinehurst marks a significant milestone for the golfing community, bringing the Hall back to its origins and enhancing the overall experience for fans and players alike. With the USGA’s commitment to preserving golf history and celebrating its greatest athletes, Golf House Pinehurst is poised to become a haven for golf enthusiasts seeking to explore the rich tapestry of the sport. Visit the new Golf House Pinehurst and discover the magic of golf’s past, present, and future in one iconic location.
