Tee times for U.S. Open 2024: Pairings revealed for first and second rounds

As the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 approaches, the focus has shifted from off-course drama to the actual competition. In the past two years, the golf world has been abuzz with discussions about the future of professional golf, particularly with the emergence of new leagues like LIV Golf. However, with several majors having already featured players from both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, the tension between the two sides seems to have dissipated. Now, the question arises whether separate exemption criteria will be established to ensure that deserving LIV golfers have the opportunity to compete in major championships.

This year, only 12 LIV players are in the field at Pinehurst, down from 15 last year. While the number of LIV players may be smaller this year, the issue of pairing them with PGA Tour pros seems to be less of a concern than in previous years. The spotlight now shifts to the pairings for the opening two rounds, which will be revealed by the USGA for Thursday and Friday play. Additionally, there is anticipation surrounding marquee groupings, such as the “super pairing” of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Xander Schauffele.

As tee times were announced on Tuesday morning, golf fans got a glimpse of the traditional pairings that will feature last year’s U.S. Open winner, Wyndham Clark, playing alongside the U.S. Amateur champion, Nick Dunlap, and the Open Championship winner, Brian Harman. Tiger Woods will also be making his return to competition, teeing off with Will Zalatoris and Matt Fitzpatrick on Thursday morning. The complete list of tee times for the opening two rounds provides a preview of the exciting matchups that await at the 2024 U.S. Open.

The field at Pinehurst includes a mix of established stars like Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, and Rory McIlroy, as well as up-and-coming talents like Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler. With a lineup of international talent from countries like South Africa, Italy, and Argentina, the 2024 U.S. Open promises to be a diverse and competitive event. The presence of veteran players like Phil Mickelson alongside emerging stars like Sahith Theegala adds to the intrigue of the tournament.

The 2024 U.S. Open will provide a platform for players to showcase their skills and compete for one of golf’s most prestigious titles. With a mix of experienced champions and rising stars, the tournament at Pinehurst No. 2 is set to deliver exciting moments and memorable performances. As the golf world turns its attention to the competition on the course, the focus will be on the action unfolding at one of the sport’s historic venues. Stay tuned for updates and highlights from the 2024 U.S. Open as the world’s best golfers vie for victory on the challenging layout at Pinehurst.
