Review of the Callaway Paradym X Fairway Wood

Callaway has once again raised the bar for ball speed in a fairway wood with their Paradym X model for 2023. The player testing showed impressive gains of up to 7 yards, making this club a great choice for those looking to increase their distance and bring more par 5s into reach. With a strong draw bias that can be adjusted through hosel adjustments, the Paradym X fairway wood offers versatility for a wide range of players.

In terms of looks, the Callaway Paradym X fairway wood features a “stretched” footprint that is longer than average from front-to-back. However, the shape is slimming and appealing with a symmetrical and slightly triangular design. The matte front edge of the crown helps to camouflage the size, while the gold Tungsten Speed Cartridge on the sole adds a stylish touch to the overall aesthetic.

The sound and feel of the Paradym X fairway wood are described as authoritative and powerful, with a mix of a “snap” and a “crack” on good contact. The feel is solid and powerful, providing enough feedback through the hands to discern the quality of each strike. Centered contact offers a crisp feel, while mishits are slightly subdued, ensuring a consistent response from the club.

Performance-wise, the Callaway Paradym X fairway wood impresses with its high ball speeds and forgiveness. The Jailbreak Batwing Technology allows the face to flex more easily, resulting in impressive smash factors and consistent ball speed even on mishits. The AI-designed face and high MOI contribute to the club’s forgiveness, maintaining high ball speed across the face for added consistency.

The Paradym X fairway wood is designed to launch the ball high with low spin, thanks to the Tungsten Speed Cartridge and low CG positioning. The shallow face makes it easy to elevate the ball, even on thin shots, but it may be less comfortable for players who prefer hitting their fairway woods off the tee. The club also features a slight draw bias, which can be adjusted at the hosel to reduce the draw effect while still enjoying the forgiveness and high launch characteristics.

Overall, the addition of adjustability in the Callaway Paradym X fairway wood makes it a versatile choice for players seeking more distance and forgiveness in their fairway wood. Whether you primarily hit your fairway woods off the turf or are looking to eliminate a draw bias, the Paradym X offers a compelling combination of performance and adjustability. With its impressive ball speed, forgiveness, and high launch capabilities, this club could become a valuable addition to your bag for maximizing your performance on the course.
